Subject:the see program native american project
Time:09:37 am
for the 3rd quarter history class at the see program, students worked very hard on Native American nations projects. each student picked a tribe to study, some of them being Navajo, Cherokee and Chippewa. the first part of the project was to type a report that included many topics such as the social life(customs, rituals, ceremonies), government, the role of the men, women and children, education, religious beliefs, technology, everday life, and sports and games. Also included in the written report was what changes have taken place within in the tribe and what are they doing recently.
the second part of the project was a hands on presentation that had to do with their tribes. there were some nice presentations...
bryan- Navajo
his powerpoint presentation, which is like a slide show, gave information on the navajo, along with some nice pictures. an interesting fact about the navajo is that they voted against casino gambling on their reservation. also, the women of the navajo are losing their tradition of weaving because they are starting to go to school at an earlier age.

danny- chippewa
also did a powerpoint presentation. it was really nicely put together. it gave information about the chippewa lifestyle, religion, sports and games, etc. included pictures. some of their sports and games were darts and a lacrosse type game.
it was very nice.

meghan- cherokee
the last powerpoint presentation! she gave information on sports and games, war and weapons, ceremonies, role of men& women and so on. she played native american music in the background that made it more her own.
the cherokee had many ceremonies that were important and their dreams were also very important to them.

dina- abenaki
dina made corn soup that is traditional the the abenaki native americans. she made it here at the see program! also she made the abenaki flag with materials such as felt and cloth. her written report was also very interesting.

Subject:how i REALLY feel about the see program

let me start from the beginning so no one is confused.
my name is lauren, i came to the see program last year because i was going to drop out and someone suggested that i go to the see program instead and i thought that was a good idea. i was behind in a lot of classes, and being here got me back to where i was supposed to be pretty much. i was a freshman-sophomore or something, and then i got enough credits to be a junior. so now its almost the end of my junior year and i'm not really sure whats gonna happen next year. i love the see program and i think its a good program for kids who can't really function in a normal high school like us. its fun because we go on field trips and stuff like that.

this year was really crazy because when we all first came to school on the first day, we found out that we didnt have a break anymore and that classes were longer and all year people were mad about it. so everything was different than before and no one knew how to handle it. i dont know why they changed things in the first place because why fix something if it isnt broken? but it doesnt matter now because everything is different. we have a break again, we eat and go back to class. i dont know whats going to happen next year yet because no one ever tells us anything. hopefully things will turn out ok.

Subject:Welcome to The S.E.E. Program Weblog

Hello,
My user name is Northman1 which is a translation of my given name 'Norm'. The name goes way back to the time of the Normans and French, who by the way conquered England in 1066. I had nothing to do with that, however, if I was around at the time who knows? Anyway, I am the Social Studies/U.S. History and English teacher at the S.E.E. I am still working on my blog as are the students and the other staff. In time we will all have a 'Livejournal' page and things will start happening. Pictures of our school and school events will be posted along with plenty of viewpoints, commentaries, and just plain journal writing. Hope you visit our community again soon. Please leave comments.

P.S. Bloggin is a form of free writting no one will be criticised for gramar or speling errors.

a lot of people are saying that they talked to supervisors and the people upstairs and they want to bring the SEE program over to the highschool because "edco" has a bid up for this floor. this is our floor and they're gonna buy it. so maybe next year we'll be cramped in the high schools frickin basement with no windows. we came here to get away from the high school and no we have to go back. the rooms are pretty nice here, they're big and have big windows, it doesnt surprise me that edco wants to buy this floor or whatever. i dont even know if all this is true, there's jst a lot of rumors. but a lot of people will end up DROPPING OUT if we have to move to the high school. we need help staying over here. but what can we do??
