for the 3rd quarter history class at the see program, students worked very hard on Native American nations projects. each student picked a tribe to study, some of them being Navajo, Cherokee and Chippewa. the first part of the project was to type a report that included many topics such as the social life(customs, rituals, ceremonies), government, the role of the men, women and children, education, religious beliefs, technology, everday life, and sports and games. Also included in the written report was what changes have taken place within in the tribe and what are they doing recently.
the second part of the project was a hands on presentation that had to do with their tribes. there were some nice presentations...
his powerpoint presentation, which is like a slide show, gave information on the navajo, along with some nice pictures. an interesting fact about the navajo is that they voted against casino gambling on their reservation. also, the women of the navajo are losing their tradition of weaving because they are starting to go to school at an earlier age.
also did a powerpoint presentation. it was really nicely put together. it gave information about the chippewa lifestyle, religion, sports and games, etc. included pictures. some of their sports and games were darts and a lacrosse type game.
it was very nice.
the last powerpoint presentation! she gave information on sports and games, war and weapons, ceremonies, role of men& women and so on. she played native american music in the background that made it more her own.
the cherokee had many ceremonies that were important and their dreams were also very important to them.
dina made corn soup that is traditional the the abenaki native americans. she made it here at the see program! also she made the abenaki flag with materials such as felt and cloth. her written report was also very interesting.
